What's in a Gnome?

Time to report on the Dating Divas Romeo & Juliet Date...Husband and I had a lot of fun.  We made homemade pizza (a favorite at our house).  I'm sure Shakespeare liked pizza too, and if he didn't...oh well.  You can only stretch the date theme so far sometimes.  While we made pizza, we did a little activity.  I had printed off a bunch of quotes from Romeo & Juliet.  We took turns reading them and then translating them.  It was really cheesy and sometimes just plain dumb, but we also had some good laughs.  Take for example Tony's interpretation of

What's in a name? That which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet.

Translates into:

What's in a name? That which we call a Jimmer
By any other name would Jimmer you just as much.

After our silly little game we watched Gnomeo & Juliet.  It was a lot of fun.  Cute movie.  Way to go, Sir Elton John.

In other news, we're excited for the arrival of summer.  Not that summer brings any big changes, just that it brings a number of vacations and lots of fun with family.  We're anticipating the Annual Gibbons Family Lake Trip, a visit from Dr. Brown and Grandpa for Hyrum's baby blessing, a Shinkle Family Get-Away to Scottsdale, and a Burgess Family Reunion (complete with meeting Jacie Lynn and introducing Hyrum to his Grandpa Burgess).  We may even throw in a ward camp out if we feel up to another trip.

Hyrum is 6 weeks old today.  Yesterday (while he was asleep and I was making delicious Mexican pizza for dinner) I found myself thinking, "Wow! When did I figure this whole Mom thing out?!"  The past week has been magical, if I'm allowed to use that word.  Hyrum and I have finally figured out our little eat, sleep, repeat routine.  This has resulted in me being able to do chores, fix dinners, and even squeeze in a little time with Tony during the sleep phase of the cycle.  (Unless, of course, it also coincides with Tony's sleep phase.)  On top of that, last night Hyrum ate at 9pm, 2am, and 7am.  It's amazing how rested you can feel when your baby decides to eat only every FIVE hours instead of two or four.  Although I have a lot to be grateful for in the baby category, Hyrum also has his moments, like when his diaper exploded at church.  Come to find out, you shouldn't sit there embarrassed while your child makes rather loud pooping sounds in Sunday School.  Instead, calmly get up, walk to the mother's lounge, and take off his clothes.  That way, he won't ruin his clothes when it all comes gushing out.  [SIGHI still have a lot to learn as a mother.

  1. You have a great mom to teach you and some will come with time. Somethings can't be taught but are learned (as I know this from experience) and remember when you get things figured out with Hyrum throw most of it out the door when the next one arrives. :)

Loves to you for leaving nice comments!
