Made from Scratch

I made my own spinach noodles from scratch this evening.  They were delicious.  It felt empowering.

Check out the recipe at Our Best Bites.  I love love love their recipes.  We make them often around here.  I'm still anxious to try their cookie dough truffles.

And yes.  I am a nursing student and I did get two A's on my exams this week.  Life is good.  And healthy.

Lucky Crickets

We had a spring garden that didn't do so well.  Our watermelon and zucchini never came up.  Our corn didn't come up.  We replanted it.  The second time it came up but never got higher than a foot.  Our pepper transplants never produced much of anything.  We did get tomatoes, but not much.

We wanted to do better this go around.  We heard rumor that you plant corn on September 15th --not a day before, not a day after.  So we picked a larger plot of land and planted our corn on September 15th.  We also added fertilizer to our lovely Arizona dirt and planted carrots, kale, cabbage, lettuce, spinach, beans, peas, and broccoli.

There was mud involved.  It was a fun time for The Boy.

So it's been five days since we planted.  I laugh every time I go water the garden.  Crickets start evacuating the garden plot.  I joked and called them our lucky crickets.  Little did I know they actually were!  We have corn sprouts up already!

We're excited.  This garden better produce like the dickens.

The Park

Hyrum LOVES the park.  It's probably his favorite activity of all time.  He probably loves the park more than he loves chocolate milk...and that's saying something.

He's a pro at the slide.  He sits himself down, scootches his little behind, and slides!

We have to let him drive the stroller in order to get him to leave...

Needless to say, we're excited for the weather to cool down so that we can go to the park more often.

Mornings Like Today

I went to bed at 8:30 last night.  My alarm was set for 4am with the intention of getting up and doing school work.  I snoozed until 4:30, though.  Of course, it would be my luck that Little Man would decide 4:30 was a perfect time for him to wake up too.  Oh well...

We got dressed, made the bed, and ate oatmeal for breakfast.  More correctly, Hyrum ate his oatmeal and then helped me finish mine.  This kid is no longer a baby.  He's a monster.

We did some laundry, unloaded the dishwasher, watched MasterChef on Hulu, got dinner started in the crockpot, made my lunch, fed Boy lunch, played, giggled, and had a grand time.

I still got my PowerPoints printed off so that I can study for my upcoming exam while I ride the lightrail to class.  The paper for Community can wait for tonight.

If every day had mornings like today...wowzers!

The Latest and Greatest

1.  School is going amazingly well.  I love pediatrics, especially the NICU.

2.  Husband spoke with the Facility Manager in Nauvoo (the guy in charge of all the historical sights, missionary apartments, etc.) about interviewing for the Assistant FM position.  To say Husband is excited would be an understatement.

3.  Hyrum loves the park.  He cries every time we drive by or walk by and don't stop to play.

4.  Whenever we go to the park I get mauled by mosquitoes and I am miserable for at least a week.  Good thing Hyrum doesn't taste as good as me.  Either that or mosquitoes have rules about the age of their prey.

5.  My boys are pretty cool.

6.  Husband could quite possible start working the 7pm -1am shift.  In all truthfulness, we're excited.  It pays  better and we wouldn't need Grannie to help out so much.  Besides...how is staying up until 1am any different that getting to work by 4am?

7.  Shutterfly sent me another promo code for a free photo book.  I love those things.

8.  Husband is turning older on Thursday.  We plan on eating apple pie and Blue Bell ice cream.

9.  Hyrum is probably going to lose his toenail.  Again.

10.  As if scorpions aren't enough, we have termites now.  The bug man is coming tomorrow to resolve the issue.  The Morgans are grateful we're here to save the day.
